Hands up if you’ve got a white kitchen. Ooh, there are a lot of you aren’t there? Well, it’s a sensible choice, good for resale and all that, even if at times it seems a bit, well, yawnsome. Indeed, only the other day I was admiring my very own white STÅT kitchen from Ikea when I decided it could do with an accent colour to perk it up.
But which one? I’m bored of my current Keep-Calm-And-Carry-On red, have seen enough aubergine to last me a lifetime (eating moussaka, probably), and find those ‘cheery’ azure blues and sunflower yellows far too smug first thing in the morning. So I’ve gone for… raspberry.
Clockwise from top right: Bistro toaster in pink, £55, Bodum; kMix Boutique stand mixer in Magenta, £399.99, Kenwood; RB60299 freestanding fridge with ice box in Raspberry Pink, £895, Gorenje; MAX Mood microwave with grill in Sensual Rouge, £179, Whirlpool
Now this may come as a surprise to those who know me. My childhood toy of choice was Lego, not Barbie. Get This Party Started is the opposite of my favourite song. But there’s something about this shade – it’s warm and soft but not in-your-face neon or sugar. Manufacturers seem to be loving it, too, and are turning out an increasing number of gizmos in said shade, including my personal wishlist, above. So what do you think? Is there another colour you’d like to apply to your appliances? Let me know and perhaps I can rustle up a suitably colourful post for you.
