Here’s some good news for those who like their appliances matchy-matchy, and have their eye on one of Samsung’s EcoBubble washing machines – they’ve gone and launched a coordinating tumble dryer!
There are in fact, two, but since the DV70 and DV80 are peas in a pod, we’ve just pictured the one. The big difference between them is their capacity, the DV70 holding 7kg of laundry, and the DV80, you’ve guessed it, 8kg. Otherwise both are A++ rated, which is pretty efficient when it comes to tumble dryers, and have the same features.
They are so efficient because they use heat pump technology. In case you’ve forgotten (wink, wink), this works by passing warm, dry air through the drum to absorb moisture from your clothes, and then cooling the air using a refrigerant rather than a more traditional air or water system. This causes condensation, which releases the water from the air. The dryer then uses the waste heat created by the cooling process to reheat the air to remove the moisture from your clothes without the need for additional energy. And so the cycle continues. Ta dah!
So what else? Well they’ve got the same large door as Samsung’s washing machines, so it’s easy to get your laundry in and out. There’s also a special Diamond Drum that’s less likely to snag your clothes since it creates an air-cushion effect. This also means they don’t crease as much and are held up in the warm air for longer, reducing drying times.
One final function of note is Smart Check, which monitors the health of your dryer and helps you diagnose any problems yourself instead of getting the repair man in. Activate the Smart Check mode on the dryer and if there’s a problem, a code appears on the display. Scan this with a smartphone loaded with the Samsung Smart Washer app and the issue will appear on screen, along with details of how to fix it.
